Dhoyal wall hanging

Posted by CRT on behalf of our readers

"We have had in our possession for over 10 years, a wall hanging measuring about 2 meters by 1 1/2 meters that has a label on the back which reads:-

Dhoyal : Traditional Thar Desert Bedcover made from hand embroidered bodices worn by women & presented as wedding gifts.

I can find no appropriate references to the word "Dhoyal" on the internet.
Could you please advise if you have any knowledge of this or perhaps the word has been spelled incorrectly?"

Textile workshops / design

Posted by CRT on behalf of our readers

"I will be visiting India sometime in December and am interested in planning visits to some of the textile oriented workshops. I would like to investigate the possibilities of putting my own fashion designs into production there, but using traditional textiles and fair trade labor practices. I have tried contacting individual NGO's but without much luck. Can you suggest someone who might be willing to speak with me about the best way to approach my upcoming trip?"
